We have dated it and narrowed down the place of manufacture to 1972 based on the serial number and the red label/'k' stamp. This is a Red Label Japanese-manufactured Nippon Gakki Yamaha FG-180 in good to very good condition. The second and third numbers are the month 09=September. YMMI (Yamaha Music Manufacturing Indonesia), Made in Indonesia, 1990-1996: #. The final four numbers are the unit number 3112. I did contact Yamaha and they told me that it had to be made between 1966 - 1968 because after that period, Yamaha began using eight characters as serial numbers. The guitar has a six digit number '905854'. I have tried all the serial number finders on the web and none of them can tell me in what year my guitar was made.
